limitless possibilities from
dp-lamination
January 2017 will see Decorative Panels
Lamination start to bear the fruits of
a significant new investment with the
launch of their new dp-limitless range. To
get an insight into how this investment
will benefit the market the team
responsible for this initiative were asked
to comment.
Managing Director Michael Sawyer
recently announced the arrival of a new
state of the art laminator- the seventh
to be installed at Decorative Panels
impressive 140,000ft manufacturing
facility based in Elland, West Yorkshire.
The new investment will enable dplamination to significantly increase the
number of board materials and designs
offered into not only the furniture industry
but importantly the architect and specifier
markets.
Michael said “…this is a natural
progression for us, in that alongside our
current portfolio of dp-decor and dpspecialist products, we can now offer a
whole different package of materials. The
laminator uses different technology to our
other Thermo-rolling lines and enables
us to laminate a much wider range of
products in much smaller quantities –
significantly increasing our offer into
the market place.” An incredible amount
of research has gone into this and Phil
Dalton, Operations Director explains the
timeline and the difficulties that have
been overcome “…this project has been
on the boil for probably about a year
now, but we wanted to source the best
equipment available. The Laminator itself
is of prime importance but we also had
to ensure the factory space, racking and
handling equipment were right.
range will comprise the following: an
extension to our Senoplast Acrylic offer –
bringing the number of designs available
to 42. This will also include the addition of
an incredible 2mm thick gloss Senoplast
Acrylic. Other products available will
be High Pressure Laminates from both
ABET and Egger, Faux Leather products,
Real Stone veneers, Technical surfaces,
Real Wood Veneers, metal and of course
anything else that we are able to source to
fulfil specific needs”.
New Racking systems are being installed
as we speak and we have taken delivery
of three new Combilift CB forklifts to cater
for narrow aisle storage allowing the most
efficient use of space. The Laminator itself
is being installed during Autumn and this
will mean that we can start to sample and
test products up to Christmas, with a full
launch of the dp-limitless brand in January
2017”.
The laminator will utilise a high bond
strength PUR glue line which will ensure
a superb overall finish on sheet sizes up
to 3660 x 1430mm, (although 2440mm
x 1220mm and 3050mm x 1220mm will
make up the majority of the offer).
Design Director, Julian Tatham has spent
much of the last year investigating new
products and supply partners to enable
Decorative Panels to offer an unrivalled,
diverse portfolio of materials. Julian
commented “…obviously we wanted to
offer as much as we possibly could and
starting in January, the dp- limitless stock
Stephen Cadwell, Sales Director added,
“…this is a really exciting time for us and
in essence means we should be able to
offer more or less any existing bondable
sheet material into our current customer
base and network of Distribution partners.
Products will be available from stock
under the new banner of dp-limitless and
we will be flexible enough to be able to
offer in anything from single sheets up to
full loads.
This will in turn allow customers to both
sample and offer individual, bespoke
small runs without any commitment.
The fact that it will enable us to offer
new products into areas that we have
not previously been able to target is
tremendously significant. We are also
working on a comprehensive sample
package that we are currently putting
together and will be available at launch in
January”.
