This course will give participants the basics they need to know in order to purchase, maintain, and harvest their own backyard beehive, as well as how to winterize a hive and how to split the original into multiple functioning hives.

We will delve into how the elements apply to each and every individual along with the greater cycle of life. A deeper understanding of the five elements will lead you to an overall sense of wholeness and less disease.

Ethnobotany: A study of edible, medicinal and other useful plants

John’s expertise and television documentaries have gained him worldwide recognition. Come and find out which plants were important both as food and for medicinal use to the native inhabitants of this area. This course is a mix of botany, history and chemistry with slides and hands-on plant identification. Students will study plants in the Sinks Canyon area. Please be prepared to be outside all day. Bring a lunch/snacks, water, sturdy shoes, sunscreen and insect repellant. A notebook and camera are strongly recommended. John’s classes fill quickly so register early!
