We ’ re replacing 18,500 City-owned sodium street light fixtures with money-saving , efficient light-emitting diode ( LED ) fixtures . Our LEDs will be powered by our 100 % greenhouse gasfree Hetch Hetchy hydroelectric energy . Our new LEDs will emit warm white light and will last about four times longer than existing fixtures , while using half as much electricity .
