KEEP CONSERVING SAVE WATER AND REPLACE OLD PLUMBING FIXTURES — IT’S THE LAW! Even with some relief this winter, the historic drought has demonstrated that we must be prepared for more frequent dry periods. To help stretch our water supply, our call for a 10% voluntary reduction in water use remains in place, as well as mandates to replace old, inefficient plumbing fixtures. Wasteful outdoor uses, including hosing down sidewalks and irrigation overspray, are prohibited, and can be reported by calling or clicking 311. There are many ways you can save water, including: • Monitor your water usage at myaccount.sfwater.org to track your conservation efforts and detect leaks. • Take advantage of our conservation offerings such as free showerheads, faucet aerators, water-wise evaluations and rebates for up to $500 per qualifying fixture. Water-conserving toilets, urinals, showerheads, and faucets are required by law. Commercial property owners have until January 1, 2017 to file an affidavit of compliance with the Department of Building Inspection. Apply soon! Toilet and urinal rebate programs end December 31, 2016. Find conservation tips and more details: sfwater.org/conservation. 2 currents | JULY/AUGUST MARCH/APRIL2016 2016 SUBSCRIBE FOR FREE
