Sumi-e Painting A class where complete beginners are
welcome and where they will be
taught the art of drawing. This class is
also suitable for those wishing to
refresh their drawing skills and for
experienced artists. This is an opportunity to work on a
more finished and resolved
painting/drawing, or to do lots of
drawings from different angles. The
class is suitable for both those wishing
to refresh their skills and for
experienced artists. Please bring your
own paints/pastels/canvas. During these classes you will develop
drawing and sketching skills and
strengthen your own artistic style. We
will cover a variety of techniques
during the class mainly through
observational drawing including life
drawing, still life and photographic
visual references. Materials such as
charcoal and paper will be provided
but you may wish to bring your own
sketchbook and selection of pencils as
well ranging from 2B-8B. Learn how to produce beautiful
traditional Japanese pictures created
with liquid charcoal and colour ink.

learning and developing oil painting
techniques that will help you to create
beautiful paintings. We will cover
blending and brush techniques,
composition, colour theory, layering,
light placement and more. Materials
