Moyra Donaldson Jo Egan Jo Egan Ruth Carr Writing Fiction Creative Writing: Inspiration and Practice Playwriting Writing Memoir “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players” ~ Shakespeare. If you’ve always wanted to write a play, here’s your chance. Over twelve weeks, in an easy and supportive environment, you will develop skills towards writing your own play. During the course we will be looking at: Developing concepts and ideas, Narrative and Plot, Form and Structure, Character development, Creating authentic dialogue and Developing a unique style. The tutor, Jo Egan is the Artistic Director of Macha Productions, a Belfast based theatre company, and holds an MFA in Playwriting from Trinity College Dublin, Lir Academy. A creative writing course that offers skills and techniques for those wishing to create work for publication or performance based on personal or family memoirs. The course supports the development of the writer as an artist and provides insight into a regular practice. This will enable participants to create unique work. This course will develop the writer’s skills through close reading, writing practice and constructive feedback. Reading and Writing Poetry This class is suitable for beginners, though all are welcome. The lessons will focus on narrative, plotting, character, setting, description, dialogue, and more, prompting participants to think critically about their work. There will be structured writing sessions each week, and students will be encouraged to bring their work to class for discussion and feedback in a supportive and creative environment. Through a combination of writing exercises, critical feedback and close attention to the work of established authors in a variety of genres, participants will have the opportunity to increase their skills, deepen their understanding of their craft and find inspiration for their work; all in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
