Gift Wrapping
With Style

Experience basket weaving with locally
sourced willow to make your own
round shopper with handle in this
weekend workshop. Under the expert
guidance of basket maker and craft
tutor Sabine Wolniczak of Beaghmore
Baskets you will learn the basic
techniques involved in this intricate
ancient craft and return home with
your own woven basket. An absorbing
and incredibly satisfying activity which
makes you forget all your troubles for
one day, leaving you with a sense of
achievement.

Learn how to wrap gifts stylishly!
Practise basic wrapping techniques to
give a professional finish and learn
how to deal with awkward shaped
gifts. Pick up useful tips and ideas to
make the most of your wrapping paper
and produce original finishing touches.

Painting the
Figure
Workshop

Using traditional methods with
equipment which can be very easily
made at home, the course will guide
you through the simple processes
involved in making beautiful papers of
which your will be justifiably proud.
You will make paper from rags,
recycled pulp, and flour sacks.
You will embellish your paper with
seeds and herbs and even onion skins.
You will make paper from old denim
jeans.
You will learn how to emboss and how
to colour your paper and on each
evening of the workshop you will make
paper to take home with you.

Charcoal is one of the oldest and most
versatile of drawing media. This
workshop will explore the different
kinds of charcoal available and the
various techniques for creating a range
of effects. We'll explore mark making,
gesture, line, tone and the potential of
the medium for expression, mood and
atmosphere.
Some willow charcoal and recycled
card will be available, but participants
will need to bring some additional
material. Tutor will advise before
workshop.

In this painting workshop we will
explore aspects of single-pose figure
study. Working with the life model, we
will elaborate on efficient methods to
quick and accurate colour mixing for a
harmonious and direct approach to
figure painting. This workshop aims to
help students become more decisive,
fluid, and expressive as well as dealing
with problems that arise, embracing
alternative solutions and exploring
ideas as they present themselves.
