Rosie Pelan Sight Reading for Actors and Non Actors Performing Beckett Sight reading is a crucial skill for actors who attends auditions, performs poetry or play readings on stage or radio, and for anyone who needs to read aloud in a public setting. It is a skill that can be learned and improved. Rosie is an actor who has read professionally novels by Margaret Atwood and Bernard McLaverty on BBC radio and has performed readings from Dickens as part of the Dickens 2012 project. She has led ‘Sight Reading For Writers’ workshops as part of the Belfast Book Festival. Rosie will provide material, tips and techniques that will develop your sight reading ability. Sunday 26 March 11:00am-1:00pm (16+ yrs) Study through analysis and practice, the themes and staging demands of Samuel Beckett, a figure of continuing influence and importance in the theatre. Rosie will bring selections of texts from Waiting For Godot, Endgame, Happy Days and Footfalls. We will explore issues ranging from philosophical concerns, to rhythm, repetition, silence and humour in a lively, accessible workshop.
