Join this fun, accessible class to develop
skills in spontaneity, characterisation,
scene creation and structuring plot, as
well as grow in confidence in yourself
as a performer and a team player.
Suitable for all levels. Rosie is a
classically trained actor with over
twenty years’ professional experience.
For cinephiles wanting to develop their
understanding of their favourite films.
Participants will learn about the history
and theories of Hollywood filmmaking:
from the pioneers of the early days of
silent cinema through to the modern
big-budget special-effects
extravaganza. Discover auteur theory
and how it applies to the greats of
classic and modern cinema, learn how
cinema has been used by governments
across the twentieth and twenty-first
centuries, and look at how changing
media circumstances have created the
Hollywood movie as we know it today.
Participants will be guided in their
learning by suggested viewings and
will have an opportunity in class each
week to discuss the films they have
watched.

classes at the Crescent Arts Centre and
at Queen’s University. She is a resident
expert at Stormont as part of the
Politics Plus Project.

This course, designed for people with a
strong command of the French
language (post-A-level/university
level), will explore cultural aspects of
France while reinforcing
communication skills. The focus will be
on speaking and interacting in French,
but at the same time it will develop
linguistic skills, including grammar and
vocabulary.
