We also talked to Miriam Kyzer, a wonderful actress and student, who is playing the role of Belle in our production. Kyzer technically started theatre in elementary school, taking part in a couple productions here and there, but she really started her acting passion at the beginning of her junior year. Her first big role was Sarita Myrtle, in Silver Creek’s 2015 fall production of Waiting in the Wings. Over her past few shows here at Silver Creek, Kyzer has grown into her passion for acting and singing. When she was asked about her plans after high school, she told us that she wants to continue in theatre and in music, but not necessarily in musical theatre. Kyzer loves spending time on the stage, creating and spreading the joy of entertainment.

When we asked Miriam what she thought about the rehearsal process at Silver Creek, she told us “I love the rehearsal process, we find a way to make it extremely fun, and there’s not a lot of pressure so, you know, if you can’t get something right, they’re (directors Les Dwier and Angela Long) just like, “that’s okay, try it this way” …”

The Beast is one of the most well known and well loved anti-heroes of the Disney universe. His shoes are some of the biggest to fill, but the lovely Ian Christoffersen sees it as a new opportunity. In the past, Christoffersen has had to “‘flush out’ the character...” and ask himself, “‘Okay, how would this character react in this situation?...’.” Though it may be intimidating, “there’s kind of an archetype that I can already work off of.” Christoffersen has been acting at Silver Creek for the past three years with parts in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Fiddler on the Roof, The Drowsy Chaperone, Cabaret, and Twelfth Night. Before that, though, he did minimal acting, only having done two shows before starting high school. He was seven, and they were fun.

There are so many perks that come with playing a character as grand as the Beast. For Ian, the best part is being able to do the deep “Beast voice.” Another great aspect of the part is the songs that Christoffersen gets to sing. His favorite one is “If I Can’t Love Her,” which is at the end of act one. We can quote him as saying, “It’s so good. I love it.”
