A W Lymn Opening Their Sixth Branch “ Meek House ” In Littleover …

The building the company has purchased , is the old Derbyshire Building Society on Burton Road in Littleover village .
The building requires significant redevelopment to customise it to the company ’ s high standard and will hopefully include two chapels of rest , ritual washing facilities , an arranging room and car parking . The plans are being submitted to the council within the next few weeks in the hope that work can start as soon as they are approved .
The business was originally started by Arthur William Lymn and his son Harold in 1907 , and expanded from its base in Nottingham to the centre of Derby in the early 1980 ’ s with the purchase of Derwent House on Beckett Street . At this time , David Meek joined the firm as the Derby Funeral Director and was joined a few years later by his wife Shelagh who became the Funeral Arranger . David officially retired in 2011 and still works on a casual basis for the company sadly Shelagh passed away in 2013
The Family Funeral Service are delighted to be opening their sixth branch in the South Derbyshire area .
The Littleover branch will be named Meek House in recognition of David and Shelagh ’ s connection with the Littleover area , and the service they have both given to the company for over three decades .
