Some contractors will do all the work themselves and others will bring in subcontractors to complete certain tasks that are out of their skill remit . When using a contractor always ask to see their Public Liability Insurances and Employer Liability and check the dates are valid . There is a market for false documents , so again do not be shy to ring their insurers and check the documents are valid . Also notify your own house insurance company and let them know in writing that you are having work done and the extent of it .
