Getting in the
spirit of the games
The summer of 1996 was an exciting
time in Conyers/Rockdale County’s
history. More than 600,000 people
visited the community during the
Centennial Olympic Games. Visitors
flocked to equestrian events, first-ever
mountain bike competitions, and the final
two events of the modern pentathlon
at the Georgia International Horse Park.
The Olympics put Conyers and Rockdale
County not only on the map, but also
in the minds of thousands who soon
began relocating their homes, families and
businesses to the area.

Changing the scope
of the community
Conyers/Rockdale County started to
evolve from rural to suburban following
the construction of Interstate 20. Today,
residents can still enjoy the hometown
feel with the sheen of sophistication that
comes with all the opportunities that
the interstate brought our way. Though
Atlanta is just a few miles down the road,
you can still enjoy the ambiance of a
small town with the amenities of the city,
right here in Conyers/Rockdale County.
So…Remember. Become a part of
the events that shape our future.

CULTURAL ARTS

For arts and entertainment, there’s virtually something for everyone – from
choral performances to rock concerts, ballet lessons to line dancing, coffee
houses to fine dining, children’s arts activities to juried art exhibits, puppet
shows to live theatre – you can find it all in Conyers/Rockdale County.
Although Atlanta is a quick drive down
Interstate 20 for arts and entertainment
activities, Conyers/Rockdale County
residents have the convenience of enjoying
many of the same activities without
leaving town. No longer in the shadows of
neighboring Atlanta, Conyers/Rockdale has
its own thriving cultural community.

The mission of the Conyers Rockdale
Council for the Arts is to make the arts an
integral part of community development
through accessibility to, advocacy for, and
promotion of, the arts and artists. The Arts
Council achieves its mission by offering

participation of citizens,
community organizations
and local
