Over half the class of 26 applied for
the roles and interviews were
conducted by Community
Windpower Ltd representatives at
the end of February.
As well as giving the chosen duo a
wonderful experience working as
part of a team in the wind power
industry, the placement will aim to
increase their knowledge of the
sector as well as exposing them to a
range of different industry-standard
programmes.
Ben Fielding, Project Manager at
Community Windpower Ltd said
“For the pre-planning stage,
crucially, we give them a blank site.
So instead of them copying they’ve
got to think for themselves about
the environmental constraints,
access to the site. At the end of the
week they’re asked to produce a
small report and do a presentation
to the project team.
“In the second week they move onto
the operational team. They’ll get a
flavour of all the bits of the process,
and on one of the days they’ll get to
go onto a fully-functional wind
farm.”
