Celebrating Success

AWARD WINS

2016 was a very successful year for us on the awards front .
In 2016 , we won nine awards at ceremonies including : College Development Network Awards , Green Gown Awards , The Herald Diversity Awards , The Herald Society Awards , North Ayrshire Sports Awards , Scottish Mentoring Network Awards , and the SQA Star Awards .
Former joinery student Stuart Queen won Apprentice of the Year at the Ayrshire Business Awards .
We were Commended in the College Business category at the College Development Network Awards for our ‘ Making Your Business Our Business ’ strategy .
Our Sport and Fitness department ’ s ‘ Get Kilmarnock Active ’ project was Highly Commended in the Community category at the Green Gown Awards , where Sport and Fitness lecturer David Dougan was also a finalist .
Our ‘# ThisAyrshireGirlCan ’ campaign won the Best Diversity Marketing and Social Issues Campaign at The Herald Diversity Awards , while Equality and Inclusion Advisor Sara Turkington won the Rising Star Diversity Award .
We won the Partnership Award at The Herald Society Awards for our HIVE Summer Programme , and our work with Dean Castle Country Park , Nil By Mouth , and Prestwick Aircraft Maintenance Ltd .
Two of our Sport & Fitness students won at the North Ayrshire Sports Awards . James O ’ Neill was named Community Coach of the Year and Lauren Gilbert was named Young Volunteer of the Year .
Our Peer Mentoring project was crowned a joint winner of the ‘ Disability & Health Project of the Year ’ award at this year ’ s Scottish Mentoring Network Awards
Sport & Fitness student Natasha Kerr won the SQA College Candidate of the Year Award , while Bricklaying lecturer Billy Hutchison was Highly Commended in the SQA Champion category at the SQA Star Awards .
We were also presented with the Scottish Student Sport Volunteer Champion Award , achieving the highest award of five stars .
