Developing Ayrshire ’ s Young Workforce
AYRSHIRE COLLEGE APPRENTICES
SINCE OUR LAST ISSUE , WE HAVE HIRED OUR VERY OWN MODERN APPRENTICES TO JOIN OUR MARKETING AND ICT TEAMS .
Catriona Cook is 22 years old and joins as a Digital Marketing apprentice , a post funded by the Ayrshire College Foundation . Former student Declan Mitchell , also 22 , joins as an ICT apprentice .
A big part of Catriona ’ s remit is to develop the online presence of the Ayrshire College Foundation , which provides financial support for projects and activities carried out and supported by the College .
Declan joined at a very busy time with staff and students moving to the new Kilmarnock Campus .
We will catch up with both apprentices on our blog when they reach the halfway mark of their two-year apprenticeships .
I think the apprenticeship route is the fastest and best way to achieve the career I want . An apprenticeship gives me experience - I won ’ t be sitting in a classroom all the time unable to put my knowledge into practice .
