INDIAN EDUCATION
LEADERS VISIT COLLEGE
VICE-PRINCIPAL
BERNADETTE MCGUIRE WAS
DELIGHTED TO WELCOME A
GROUP OF INDIA’S
EDUCATION SPECIALISTS TO
THE AYR CAMPUS, AS PART
OF A VISIT TO LEARN
ABOUT SCOTLAND’S
EDUCATION POLICY AND
PRACTICE ACROSS
SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND
UNIVERSITIES.
Bernadette was joined by
Gavin Murray, Director for
Learning and Skills, Head of
Learning and Skills, Alistair
Heron, and engineering
lecturer David Stark for the
group’s visit to our
Aeronautical Engineering
Training Centre.
They explained the Scottish
Credit and Qualifications
Framework to our guests and
how our various STEM
courses fit within it. Our
visitors also heard about the
College’s strong partnerships
with major aeronautical
companies.
The group was comprised of:
• Rittika Parruck, Assistant
Director (Schools) at the
British Council in India
• Sujit Gulati, the Gujarat
government’s Principal
Secretary for Primary and
Secondary Education
• Srinivas Sriramdas,
Education Advisor.
All three were interested in
the provision of courses in
aeronautics as the Indian
states of Karnataka, Gujarat
and Andhra Paredesh are in
the process of education and
skills reform.
India is a priority country for
the Scottish government and
we are optimistic that the
group’s visit could lead to
collaboration in the future.
