CONGRATULATIONS TO EMILY BRADY
Announcing the Winner of “Be the Curator”
Henri Matisse, Teté, n.d.,
Lithograph, 35/50.
Gift of Dr. Samuel Dunaif.
The winner of the “Be the Curator” crowdfundraising initiative was announced at the
CMA’s annual meeting on May 15. And

was a privilege to participate in this exciting,
innovative, and rewarding campaign.”
Brady is one of seven volunteers who
dedicated time and energy to raise
money for the CMA. She solicited the
Women’s Club of Columbia, SCANA, her
colleagues and friends, and the community
to champion the Matisse lithograph.
Donations support the Museum’s operations
and the preservation of the collection, as
well as enabling the CMA to provide awardwinning educational programs, exceptional
exhibitions, meaningful community
outreach, and dynamic programs.
Anne Postic and her son, Jack, came in
second using her blog “The Shop Tart” and
social media as avenues to gain support.
Jack brought a donation slip to “show-andtell” at his school and marched door-todoor for the cause. Brad and Stacy Collins
followed in third place. Brad, an art history
professor at USC, shared his knowledge
of pastoral landscapes during a fascinating
lecture at the Museum to both educate the
community and encourage them to donate.
The Museum is grateful to David Phillips,
Janet Parker, and Kristian Niemi as well for
volunteering to make the drive a success.
“From the moment I saw the Matisse, I
knew it was a special piece that needed to
be enjoyed by our community,” says Brady.
“Thanks to the generous support of friends,
family, and other donors, we surpassed
the fundraising goal and helped bring the
Matisse out of the vault. As a dedicated
Museum volunteer and Columbia native, it
