We’re bringing exciting new opportunities and perspectives to children through our partnerships. A great success occurred during the spring exhibition, Our Time, Our Place: Photographs of the Black South by Richard Samuel Roberts. Together with the City of Columbia, Richland County Public Library and Richland School District One, every third grader in Richland County – nearly 2,000 students – had the opportunity to explore the Museum. Here, they were introduced to the history of our city through the work of this great Columbia photographer and created their own works based on what they learned. 2012 - 2015 Strategic Plan Goals Mission The Columbia Museum of Art celebrates outstanding artistic creativity through its collection, exhibitions and programs, interacting in ways that engage the mind and enrich the spirit. A visitor from Charleston told us: “This amazing introduction to the Museum ensures many more day trips from Charleston. We look forward to enjoying the next cultural surprise offered.” As a relevant 21st-century Museum, we are committed to continuing to be visitor and community centered in all that we do going forward. And in that spirit, we designed a new three-year plan to bring new interactive and educational experiences to our visitors, building on all of our successful exhibitions and programs over the last ?ve years. It celebrates what we have done well and expands those efforts by continuing innovative and engaging approaches to serving our audiences inside and outside the Museum walls.
