What to watch in August
from the coolie team
A Most Wanted Man
The last film Phillip Hoffman finished before
his death five months ago. We’re still to see
him in the next Hunger Games –Mocking
Jay, but this is his last leading role, and
it’s an impressive final curtain. He plays a
German intelligence operative based on
the novel by Jon Le Carre.
Australia’s Andrew Bovell wrote the
script, (also wrote the script for Lantana)
and co-stars William Defoe, Rachel
McAdams & Robin Wright.
James Cameron’s real-life
underwater adventure in 3D
“at 10900 metres (7 miles) deep,
exploring the Mariana Trench is the
ocean equivalent of scaling Everest or
landing on the moon. Cameron does
it encased in a 109cm diameter pilots
chamber”
Will this plot entice you to watch
“If I Stay”…
Mia Hall (Chloë Grace Moretz) thought
the hardest decision she would make
would be whether to pursue her
musical dreams or be with the love of
her life, Adam (Jamie Blackley). When,
a carefree family drive takes the lives
of her mother, father and brother,
everything changes in an instant, and
her own life hangs in the balance as she
lies in a coma in the hospital. Caught in
limbo between life and death for one
day, she flashes back into her past, and
has an out-of-body experience as she
watches friends and family gather at
the hospital. She must make a decision
that will not only decide her future, but
her ultimate fate.
