Elisa Stefanovic renowned specialist makeup artist shares her talent Does the name sound familiar? Elisa is a part of the very talented Stefanovic family, with brothers Karl and Peter well known TV presenter and journalists. The talent in the family doesn’t end there, Elisa is a well renowned specialist makeup artist and wig designer who has spent 20 years working in this exciting industry and is now sharing her skills with students at Kingscliff TAFE. Commencing in July Elisa will be teaching Diploma in Specialist Makeup at Kingscliff campuses new state of the art salon. Betty Rensink Head Teacher of Hair and Beauty says “To be able to offer such a unique and specialised course run by a teacher of Elisa’s calibre is a major asset for students wanting to break into this field.” Initially Elisa trained as a hairdresser however quickly saw the importance of being multi skilled within this very competitive industry to optimise her career prospects. Elisa went on to include makeup artistry to her skills and followed on by securing a wig making apprenticeship with Opera Australia. This lead to a very successful career as a key makeup artist for the Sydney Opera House where Elisa worked on Baz Luhrmann’s production of La Boheme, and other famous productions like Madame Butterfly and Sweeny Todd, and theatre productions such as Mary Poppins, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and Cats. Through her hard work and determination Elisa excelled in her field and was rewarded with a position with Opera Queensland as Makeup coordinator. “My experiences within the industry opened an opportunity to move into film and television where I worked on productions such as Peter pan, Spartacus, Power Rangers and made wigs for Matthew Maconaug
