>>>REALLOCALS>>> Debbie Dourrough Absolute Workwear Hi Debbie, how long have you been a Local? I have lived in Tweed Heads for over 30 years, after moving from Brisbane. What is the best thing that has ever happened to you? The best thing that ever happened to me was when I was 17 years old and working at Target Tweed Heads I met the man of my dreams who I ended up marrying. Also having my two sons, Kurt and Freddie. What was your proudest moment personally? Definitely finishing the City to Surf in Sydney, both when I was 25 and then again at 50. This was definitely one of the highlights of my life. What was your saddest moment? Earlier this year, I slipped over mowing our very steep lawn, under duress as nobody would mow it for me, and hurt my shoulder. The children told me to “man up” and that I would be ok, but after 3 days I decided to have an Xray. To my horror, they discovered my shoulder was broken. The good thing is, nobody has asked me to mow the lawn since. 6 What was the catalyst to a major change in your life? After owning a Spec Saver Franchise in Burleigh for 10 years, I decided to sell up. I wasn’t sure what I would do, then an opportunity came up to purchase Absolute Workwear in Tweed Heads South Tweed. What do you do when you aren’t working? I watch Rugby with my hubbie and I run. I love to run. I also love to shop or ride my bike How do you recharge your batteries. I run and run, no just kidding, I go to the beach, or take a long walk. generally just relax with Scott my husband. What do you feel the most guilty about? I feel guilty that I couldn’t attend a lot of my boys events at school when they were little due to work commitments. Who was the biggest influence in your life? My brother and his wife in Sydney. They run a very successful business and they taught me anything is possible from a very young age. www.coffeeshopgoss.com.au > BANORA POINT TO TUGUN > AUGUST 2015
