At NORTEC, we acknowledge the value of work in creating a healthy, vibrant community. That’s why we strive to create opportunities and inspire futures for our local jobseekers by truly listening to understand and seeking real solutions for both jobseekers and employers in our region. We offer a range of recruitment services, including commercial labour hire and Australian Government funded no-fee recruitment services. Our Disability Employment Services division are a special team at NORTEC who assist persons with a disability into meaningful employment. Usually it only takes a few minor modifications (which we can assist with) to enable jobseekers to work happily and reap the benefits that work can bring, not just financially but emotionally and physically – and their employer reaps the benefit of a loyal employee! For more information on staffing or assistance in finding work, call NORTEC on 1800 667 832 or visit www.nortecltd.com.au 2 How to Win Friends and Influence People Part 2 Here is the follow up with the final five tips from Dale Carnegie to help you in your workplace – or in your personal life too. There is a lot more in the book of course so I encourage you to get your hands on a copy, even for a re-read. 1. Remember names – a person’s name to them is the ‘sweetest sound in the world’. There is a trick to this – once someone tells you their name, repeat it three times in your head then try to say their name in conversation soon after. 2. Be a good listener – if you want to be a good conversationalist, learn to listen. Ask questions the person would enjoy answering. To be interesting, be interested! 3. How to make people like you? If you want to be appreciated, feel important, worthwhile, give that feeling to others first. Treat others how you would like to be treated. 4. To gain cooperation, make a person believe the idea was theirs. Ask them questions to get them thinking about the idea until it ‘dawns on them’. 5. Arguments – avoid at all costs and whatever you do don’t tell someone they are wrong! Most of the time, you’ll just make someone feel embarrassed, uncomfortable, or hurt their pride and make them feel inferior to you. From August 1, NORTEC are out to place 1000 Jobs in 100 days and just by lodging a vacancy you go into the draw to win $1000 for the charity of your choice – there are three to be won.
