You beauty!
The next Voice Weavers show is coming
up fast and it’s gonna be a beauty!
The Australian Spectacular will feature
a bunch of blokes & sheilas singing a
whole swag of popular Aussie songs,
from Dorothea Mackellar’s My Country
to Australia’s alternative national
anthem, Waltzing Matilda. There’ll be
a bit of home-grown culture with Yothu
Yindi’s Djapana and Christine Anu’s My
Island Home, as well as some some tearjerking favourites like I Am Australian and
I Still Call Australia Home.
There will also be a selection of good old
Aussie advertising jingles and a bevy of
small groups and guest acts to provide
some variety.
Voice Weavers President, Rob Partridge,
is very involved with the staging of the
Australian Spectacular show which is the
brainchild of the choir’s Musical Director,
Brett Logan.
Rob, who creates many of the choir’s
four-part arrangements, explains that
Voice Weavers is a mixed choir located
at the southern end of the Gold Coast.
“We specialise in popular, contemporary
music”, Rob says, “but we also sing
classical, gospel and other styles.
“We’ve performed at a wide range
of events up and down the coast,
and we’re really loving the challenge
of presenting Australian music in a
spectacular fashion!
