Matthew Fraser
Hungry
Jacks
Franchisee
What is the Matthew Fraser
story?
I grew up in a remote indigenous
community called Thursday Island
located in the Torres Strait. My father
worked on the island base for OTC.
My mother was a primary school
teacher.
I started flying fixed wing aircraft
when I was 15 after saving enough
money from working at McDonalds.
I’ve been in business for about
18 years, mowing lawns, music
entertainment, retail finance and
now Hungry Jack’s franchises.
I have three girls in my life. Paula my
wife, Mackenzie my daughter and
Skyla my Husky.
What is the best thing that has
ever happened to you?
That one is easy - my daughter
Mackenzie Isabella, born 28/10/14.
What is the worst thing that has
ever happened to you?
I was involved in a motor vehicle
accident where I was lucky to
survive.
What was the catalyst to the
major change in your life?
The complete incompetence of
the Labor Rudd, Gillard, Rudd
years was in fact the catalyst for
the major change in my life. It
was through their poor policy and
diabolical government that lead
me into politics. I owe it to them for
steering me into a rewarding career
helping make a positive difference
in people’s lives.
How do you recharge your
batteries?
I train in Kyokushin Karate at least
twice a week. I have been studying/
training in this discipline for over 5
years and it clears my mind for at
least 3 hours. I also like to keep up
to date with the latest ‘The Walking
Dead’ episode.
What do you feel the most guilty
about?
I’m trying to loose some weight
so sugar intake is what I feel guilty
about.
Who has been your biggest
influence in your life?
My wife Paula. She is a big positive
influence.
What was your saddest moment?
My dog Kai, a pure bred husky, past
away in 2012. I’ve never been so
upset.
What next?
Continue my volunteer roles within
the local community.
