Welcome to Oman

O man is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the world ’ s most exciting meetings , incentives , conferences , and exhibitions ( MICE ) destinations . One of the major catalysts has been the nation ' s pillar project , the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre ( OCEC ) that offi cially opened its fi rst phase in September 2016 .

The second phase will open in 2017 and the OCEC has already secured 22 international , regional and national events that will attract 230,000 visitors in its inaugural year .
The Oman Ministry of Tourism is focused on ensuring the destination becomes a major contender for international meetings , incentives , conferences and events . As a result it has created the Oman Convention Bureau to provide regulatory assistance for business tourism and to spearhead growth of the
emerging industry . The Oman Convention Bureau is led by Khalid Al Zadjali and is represented in the UK and Ireland by Four Communications .
Her Excellency Maitha Al Mahrouqi , Under Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism says : “ We are investing a lot in developing the MICE market in Oman . We are fortunate to be able to promote a unique and irresistible country with delegate appeal in abundance . Oman is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the world ’ s most exciting meetings , incentives , conferences , and exhibitions destinations and the fi rst phase opening of the OCEC is a pivotal point in our development of being a world class MICE destination .”
Oman has a robust economy , fl ourishing enterprise culture , immense intellectual capital , and a reputation as one of the world ’ s safest and most tranquil destinations . The
Sultanate ’ s wealth of natural assets includes : an enviable location at the on East-West trade routes , stunning natural beauty , vibrant culture and heritage . There has been signifi cant infrastructure investment to support Oman ’ s business tourism including the redevelopment and expansion of the capital Muscat and Salalah International Airport as well as the construction of new regional airports in Duqm and Sohar . Several highend hotels are also under construction .
Major projects also underway include the development of the Mina Sultan Qaboos Waterfront , which aims to transform Port Sultan Qaboos – previously Muscat ’ s main commercial port – into a major tourist and business travel destination . The mixed-use waterfront project will offer hotels , retail and entertainment and cultural areas .
