DEVELOPMENTS PROVIDES
ENHANCED SERVICES
The recent acquisition of Formes Alutek by
Lancashire-based LDG Group, one of Senior
Architectural System’s leading fabricators
in the North West, will provide specifiers
and contractors with an enhanced range
of services as the industry heads out of
recession.
Formes Alutek, renowned for its expertise on
high profile and innovative projects including
Great Ormond Street Hospital and M&S’s
most eco-friendly store at Cheshire Oaks where
the company installed Senior’s revolutionary
Hybrid system, will complement the design
and fabrication capabilities of the LDG Group
whilst safeguarding jobs and opening up new
market opportunities.
LDG Group, with a turnover of £15 million,
has specialised in the design, fabrication and
installation of Senior’s curtain wall systems for
more than 10 years, building an impressive
client base across sectors including new build,
commercial and refurbishment for both the
private and public sectors.
The company’s in-house powder coating and
glass processing plants ensure consistent quality
and fast lead times, which when combined with
Formes’ industry leading fabrication capabilities,
in particular the ability to curve to extreme
tolerances, will ensure that the enlarged business
will be in a position to capitalise on emerging
opportunities across the spectrum of markets.
INVESTMENT IN SPECIALIST
TRAINING SET TO INCREASE
Twenty staff at leading timber
merchant, Arnold Laver, are
working through the Fire Door
Inspection Scheme (FDIS)
Diploma in a move that will see
the Sheffield-based company’s
production, sales and technical
staff improve their levels of
knowledge and customer support
and the company increase its fire
doors business.
The FDIS Diploma comprises a
series of online education modules

that have been researched and
authored by industry experts,
which can be studied at a pace
to suit individual learners and is
completed by passing the FDIS
Diploma examination, which is
taken at a local centre. The Arnold
Laver staff are working through the
modules with the aim of improving
their awareness of the issues
around specification, installation
and maintenance of fire doors. It
is planned for some of the staff to
move onto the second stage of the
FDIS programme by becoming
FDIS Certificated Inspectors.
Group joinery manager David
Oldfield said: “We are committed
to ensuring our staff have the
knowledge and skills to be able to
provide the very best service. This
is obviously good for our customers
who benefit from our investment.
However, it is also going to give us
a new revenue stream that will help
to grow the business too.”
