INDUSTRYNEWS Roto online shop for Great Britain Great Britain now has its own Roto online shop, as of the spring of 2013: “This is a great new service that will support our trade partners in the country,” explains Ferry van Wezel, Marketing Manager Western Europe. As was expected, the online shop has proven itself to be a practical purchasing tool for small businesses; it also smoothly complements dealer operations. The internet is the clearinghouse for standard products requiring little or no explanation – and which account for a minority of the regular range of Roto trade partners in Great Britain. These include Open Out espags, simple window handles and door accessories. More products are constantly being added; partners can look forward to friction hinges, glazing blocks, hinges, etc. The online shop also provides the opportunity to order spare parts, via a simple request form to be filled out by the manufacturer. “The new online offerings have been designed for smaller operations to produce, maintain or repair individual windows,” says Ferry van Wezel. “Products generally take five or six days from time of order to reach the recipient.” Visit the Roto Blog and find out more... The nine-figure milestone marks one more step in the rapid growth of this progressive company which has shown impressive sales increases year after year, not only from a growing customer list but also from customers growing their own businesses with the fabricator’s backing. The milestone sale was with Aberdeenbased Thistle Windows & Conservatories and Glazerite’s Peter Smith flew up with a bottle of champagne to mark the occasion. Thistle is no stranger to celebration; the company has won Network VEKA’s annual Customer Satisfaction Award a recordbreaking 11 times and was also a finalist for UK Conservatory Installer of the Year at last year’s G13 Awards. MD Ian Bruce said: “From the very beginning we have installed VEKA and began sourcing from Glazerite last July. Thistle has always put great importance of the level of service we deliver to our own customers so it is really a pleasure to deal with a fabricator that thinks the same way.” AN ALUSTAR IS BORN Kömmerling new AluStar, an aluminiumclad outward opening PVCu window based on its market-leading C70 Gold® and O70 Gold® platforms, is fresh from the Group R&D facility in Germany. This latest development adds a new dimension for finishes. Customers have a near unlimited range of RAL colours, plus features such as enhanced levels of thermal and sound insulation and extended longevity, particularly when specified with a marine grade powdercoated finish. The AluStar technology is not new for Kömmerling - it is available on the KBE System 88 product, with U-values as low as 0.6 W/ 22 MAY 2014 m2K and has been proven on Passivhaus projects. It won the SolVin Award for PVC Innovation in the recycling category in 2010. For manufacturers and commercial specifiers, this new hybrid can be used for projects previously specified in aluminium only, yet with the benefits of lead-free PVCu, including woodgrain foils on the internal face. There’s also the added design option of an Ovolo or Chamfered internal glazing bead. For the fabricator, AluStar requires little capital investment, integrating easily into existing manufacturing processes, and can be glazed with standard 28mm or 36mm and 40mm triple glazed units. www.kommerling.co.uk To read more, visit www.clearview-uk.com
