ALUMINIUM Maximise space with AluK sliding door systems According to recent Royal Institute of British Architects, research, lack of space and lack of natural light is one of the most cited causes of dissatisfaction with the home. Consumers and specifiers want solutions that help maximise living space, and meet aesthetic and performance demands. Russell Yates, AluK MD comments: “AluK sliding door systems provide homeowners with wide expanses of glazing that allow the natural light to flood into the rooms, while performing to the thermal, acoustic and security standards demanded.” AluK’s BSC94 and BSC70 sliding door systems offer a variety of design features such as dual colours, allowing different colour finishes for inside and out, as well hardware and accessories to help achieve the right look and performance. Jack Door awarded Q-Mark for enhanced security Aluminium systems company, Jack Aluminium has achieved a BM TRADA Q-Mark certification under the Enhanced Security Door Scheme for its thermally efficient, Jack Door TD68. The Q-Marked Jack Door TD68 complies with the testing requirements for Secured by Design (SBD). Jack Door TD68 is engineered for high levels of security and as a result carries the PAS 23 & 24 accreditation. It is becoming widely specified and the Q-Mark certification means fabricators can now achieve Secured by Design as well. Jack Aluminium has also produced a manufacturer’s manual to give fabricators the assurance that they are consistently producing Jack Door TD68 to the required standards of Q-Mark. Fabricators can then achieve Q-Mark for the Jack Door product through independent verification by a third party certification body. Jeff Pearson, sales director at Jack Aluminium says: “Many projects now specify a requirement for independent certification from the door manufacturer. Having the Q-Mark will mean customers can achieve this accreditation using the Jack Door TD68 door and allow them to tender for Secured by Design contracts,” adds Jeff. APR 2014 69
