NEW DIRECTOR GENERAL
FOR CONSUMERS AND
HOUSEHOLDS
Clive Maxwell, Chief Executive of the Office
of Fair Trading, is to join the Department
of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to
lead the department’s drive on improving
consumer service and choice.
‘I’m really excited
about my new
role at DECC’
Mr. Maxwell has been appointed Director
General of DECC’s Consumers and
Households Group, which is responsible for the
Government’s key projects in improving energy
efficiency and helping business and domestic
energy users obtain the lowest possible bills.
The appointment comes as DECC engages
in a major programme of improvements for
consumers under energy efficiency schemes
such as the Energy Company Obligation and
Green Deal, as well as working closely with
the energy industry to maximise choice for
customers.
Mr. Maxwell said: “I’m really excited about
my new role at DECC, working on what I
think are some of the biggest issues facing the
country. Tackling big issues where I can make
a difference is why I joined the Civil Service,
one of the many reasons why I’ve enjoyed
working at the OFT, and why I’ve chosen to
stay working in Government.”
STRENGTHENING
MANAGEMENT TEAM
Glazing systems designer and manufacturer
Senior Architectural Systems has continued
to strengthen its senior management team in
order to handle the company’s anticipated
growth in 2014.
With the New Year comes a fresh start for
board members James Keeling-Heane and
Michelle Damms, who have new roles at
Senior, and also for Mark Burton, who is new
to the company.
James has transferred from his post as General
Manager at Senior Glass Systems to join the
board of Senior Architectural Systems as Sales
Director. Meanwhile, Michelle has replaced
James to join the board of Senior Glass Systems
(SGS) as Operations Director and take full
board responsibility for SGS’ operations.
Former Norking Aluminium employee Mark
Burton has joined the company as Paint Line
Manager at the firm’s Denaby site, replacing
Michelle.
James said: “I’m very excited to be taking
up this opportunity with Senior Architectural
Systems; whilst we expect another tough year
we are firmly focused on supporting and
servicing our customers throughout the coming
months.”
Michelle said: “I’m looking forward to
bringing a fresh pair of eyes to the business,
to improving productivity and to boosting
customer satisfaction.”
Investing in
New Blood
Hardware supplier VBH has
demonstrated its confidence in the
market by further strengthening
its UK external sales and technical
team.
Simon Monks moves from the position
of Area Sales Manager (ASM) to that of
National Sales Manager – England, and
now has overall responsibility for sales
activity in England, with the exception
of the West Country, which continues
to fall under the stewardship of longserving Phil Thomas.
Industry stalwart Barry Wheeler has
been recruited as ASM for the Southern
region that extends from Kent to
Wiltshire, including south and west
London. Based in Surrey, Barry is ideally
placed to manage this area and brings
much experience from previous roles at
hardware suppliers and manufacturers.
The West Midlands area is ably
managed by Daventry-based Dan
Powell, who joined VBH last March.
Dan’s industry experience belies his
young age, and he is well liked by his
customers who value his enthusiasm and
knowledge.
VBH Managing Director Peter
Rowlands commented ‘I honestly
believe this is now the strongest group
in the industry. They all have different
strengths but something that is common
throughout the group is their knowledge
of, and enthusiasm for, the products
they are promoting and the market in
general.’
