INSTALLERSUPPORT New Training Company Set Up The GGF has formed a new company called GGF Training Ltd to meet the industry’s training requirements by delivering a range of training solutions for the fenestration and glazing sector at every level. Nigel Rees, GGF Group Chief Executive, welcomed the new addition to the Group: “The objectives of GGF Training are twofold – firstly to fulfil a need for a full service training provision in the glazing sector. This will be capable of taking entrants to the industry from apprenticeship level right up to Master Installer/ Surveyor. Additionally, GGF Training will supply a clear, simple and cost-effective route to MTC (Minimum Technical Competency) compliance - enabling installers to demonstrate competence in ways that are flexible enough to suit all businesses and individuals.” GGF Training will offer various learning options including online courses for at-home learning, traditional classroom-based modules and practical on-site courses. This approach will create positive personal development at an individual level, a commercial advantage at a business level and further raise industry-wide standards. If you would like to know more about the GGF Training routes to MTC compliance, or further training opportunities – please contact Rebecca Healy on 0207 397 7205 or email training@ ggftraining.com MTC cards for door and window installers BM TRADA has launched a Minimum Technical Competency (MTC) card to allow installers of external windows and doorsets to demonstrate that they meet the strict new government requirements for approved competent person schemes in the sector. Installers and surveyors within competent person schemes for windows and doors must verify their competence against the Fenestration MTCs by 6th June 2014. BM TRADA’s MTC card will enable each installer/ surveyor to demonstrate they meet this requirement. To obtain an MTC card each installer /surveyor must be assessed. Although, installers / surveyors who have a current NVQ, can obtain an MTC card without undertaking a full MTC assessment provided the NVQ is relevant and can be verified. BM TRADA’s approach to demonstrating compliance with the MTCs has been designed to allow assessments to be completed alongside the routine site inspections that are required as part of its Competent Person Scheme. BM TRADA has teamed up with Industry Qualifications Ltd (IQ), an OFQUAL registered awarding body. BM TRADA
