HARDWARE&SECURITY
AND FOR OUR NEXT ACT….
Never ones to allow the grass to grow under their feet, those enterprising
people at Synseal are expanding their hardware range and reach…
With the goal of taking patio
door security through a
quantum leap forward, Yale and
Paddock have joined Synseal to
forge a triumvirate of the glazing
industry’s best-known brands
and create an effective solution
to a problem that has dogged
patio door manufacturers since
these ever-popular products were
developed. Lock giants, Yale,
recently merged with multipoint door locking specialist,
Paddock, to introduce a security
package for the Synseal in line
patio door that will raise security
and therefore homeowner
confidence to new levels.
Synseal has achieved this by
offering a Yale Branded 6-hook
stainless steel patio door lock
together with a Kitemarked Yale
anti-bump cylinder as standard.
The package is further enhanced
through the development of a
bespoke designed patio door
handle exclusive to Synseal
customers. The handle will be
available in a range of finishes

to provide aesthetics that belie
the security performance of the
hardware combination. The whole
package is supplied conveniently in
a single Synseal branded box and
will be available from January.
“Patio door security has had a
chequered past, and a cause for
concern with many homeowners,”
explained Mark Frain, Synseal
Hardware Category Manager.
“We have liaised very closely with
the industry’s leading hardware
developers to offer something
unique to our customers and
we feel that we have improved
the hardware specification
without adding extra cost to our
customers.
“With this patio lever,
homeowners can be assured
that their Synseal patio doors
are amongst the most secure
available.”
The Patio package is indicative
of Synseal’s approach to everything
it commits to: the company
believed that it could enhance
its customer’s experience by
developing and refining a range of
hardware that both complemented
its products and also the installer
experience. Hardware specialist
Mark Frain was recruited to head
up the category: “We work with
leading hardware brands and
scour the market to bring together
hardware that is ideally suited to
the performance requirements
of Synseal doors and windows,
but also for our fabricators and
installers requirements. It is a
fully integrated approach. Where
other systems manufacturers
may recommend hardware,
our customers may choose all
of their requirements from us,
consolidating their ordering and
logistical commitment. In short,
reducing their workload.”
As clear as Crystal…
This approach received assent
from one of the UK’s leading
retailers when Crystal Direct
signed an exclusive hardware
agreement with Synseal a year
ago. “Crystal Direct is one of the
country’s premier fabricators,”
says Tim Goldspink, Crystal’s
Operations Director, “and we have
achieved that status by developing
strong relationships with our key
specialist suppliers.”
While buying hardware from
its profile supplier certainly saves
on paperwork and unnecessary
deliveries, Crystal has discovered
numerous other benefits, as Tim
explains.
“Primarily, this agreement is
a further example of the close
relationship we have with Synseal,”
he said. “We have noticed a
significant reduction in the
number of call backs to jobs where
the hardware has either failed, or
not performed as expected.
“To put a figure on it, customer
service calls associated with
hardware failures fell by 29.6%
between January and May this
year. With that said, not only
has the quality improved, but
the choice in terms of available
colours has been embraced by
our customers. The hardware
sample case provided enables us to
demonstrate the quality and colour
range to those that have not yet
experienced it.”
Read all about it!
Synseal has published an 88
page catalogue of its hardware
range: “Synseal’s hardware range is
optimised to match the company’s
PVC-U window and door systems
and provides a ‘one-stop-shop’
supply chain to its customers,” says
Mark. “It has been put together to
provide support to the professional
fabrication and installation of
window casements, front and
back doors, and patio and bi-fold
doors.
“Ensuring that all components
meet stringent standards,
and checking that they work
together effortlessly and carry the
guarantees that are require, can be
time consuming and frustrating.
And this process requires constant
updating as standards and
technology improve.
“Just as we have with other
products that are complementary
to window, door and conservatory
fabrication, we have put together
proven hardware components
carefully chosen for their
reliability, technical performance
and value for money, ensuring
that fabricators always have the
products on hand to deliver top
quality finished windows and
doors to their installer customers.
“From window handles and
friction stays to trickle vents and
letter boxes, Synseal’s hardware
range has it all!”
