PARTNERSHIP REINFORCED BY NEW CNC MACHINE

conservatory roof supplier, Made For Trade, has
seen its relationship with machinery specialist
Emmegi strengthened after the purchase of two
new CNC saws to manufacture its upcoming
Korniche lantern roof.
Made For Trade, which operates over several
factories in Teesside, now owns four CNC
machines by the brand, with Emmegi’s Sales
Manager, Martin Linnell, describing the
close partnership between the two firms as
‘genuine’. He said: “Over the past four years,
Made for Trade has shown real loyalty to
Emmegi and we have repaid that by delivering
exemplary service all the way along.”
Martin added: “Since we first started talking
to Bradley Gaunt, Made For Trade’s Managing
Director, and his team about what he wanted
for his business, we’ve supplied a whole raft of
machines to match their ambitious expansion
plans and have supported them all the way
with quality products, reliable service and
expert advice when required.”
Prior to the arrival of the CNC machines,
Made For Trade had been operating older

profile saws, which restricted production
when the business saw increased demand and
expansion. Emmegi advised on the purchase
of a Classic Twin electronic double mitre saw
in 2013, which boasted of electronic angle
positioning to allow for greater accuracy.
Impressed with the service provided, Made
For Trade ordered a second Phantomatic T3A
and beadsaw in 2015 and two more saws
were added this year to help meet demand,

including a specifically tooled X4 four axis
machine for the manufacture of the company’s
new aluminium lantern roof.
Made For Trade’s Bradley Gaunt said:
“When we decided new machinery was
required during the expansion of the business,
we felt that Emmegi was absolutely the right
company to go to. It was able to deliver
quality equipment that could cope with the
high demands of our factories.”
With the launch of its innovative
aluminium lantern roof just around the
corner, Made For Trade hopes that the
high tech machinery will not only help to
accommodate an increase in sales on its
existing range, but also allow for accurate and
fast production of their new product.

the establishment of Prefix
Systems (UK) Ltd, one of the
UK’s leading conservatory
roof system manufacturers, the
company continues to grow and
invest in its production facility.
Originally located in a 2500
sq. ft unit in Bacup, Lancashirebased Prefix Systems soon out
grew these premises and so, four
years later, moved to a bigger site
at Accrington. Growth continued
and last year Prefix moved to a
60,000 sq. ft manufacturing
facility in Blackburn.The

move to this much larger factory
allowed further investment
in machinery, particularly to
improve capacity and capability in
the cutting department.
Prefix has a long standing
working relationship with
elumatec UK and so Chris
Baron, Director at Prefix, and
Andrew Robson, Technical Sales
Manager at elumatec UK, worked
together to assess the company’s
requirements and specify the
most suitable solution. The

outcome was a £56,000
investment in an elumatec 5-axis
DG 244 double mitre saw with
E580/5 control unit to allow the
machine to be programmed from
computers in the office.
The DG 244 is a ‘cutting
from below’ saw and provides
the operator with unrestricted
access to the working table. The
specification enables it to cut at
all angle positions on the external
dimensions. This means no
length calculations or correction
values are necessary when cutting
profiles of different heights – a
feature that was particularly
important to Chris Baron as
it reduces operator
time and risk of
calculation errors.
The universal
pivoting and tilting of
both of the DG 244’s saw units

allow cutting of high and wide
profiles as well as every type of
compound mitre. Consequently,
many profiles can be cut
without support blocks.
With a minimum cutting
length at 90° of 375 mm, and
of 375 mm when tilted at 45°,
the DG 244 has the flexibility
to work on even small profile
lengths.
Chris Baron commented:

the site and testament to the
