BUFF BUILDERS SCARED TO GO TO THE DOCTORS

»»
TRADESMEN ARE STILL reluctant to go to the doctors , despite making more of an effort to look after themselves , new research has found .
A study of 1,000 tradespeople * by IronmongeryDirect , the UK ’ s largest online and mail order supplier of ironmongery products to the trade , found that tradesmen are making more of an effort to lead a healthier lifestyle with 32 % regularly hitting the gym and 50 % watching their weight . However , despite 39 % saying they strive to lead a very healthy lifestyle , when tradesmen get ill , 46 % admit they don ’ t go to the doctors , with 29 % choosing to self-medicate and 17 % preferring to work through it .
Further research from PushDoctor . co . uk found that 58 % of tradesmen have been unable to go to the doctors in the past year because of work commitments and 25 % still go to work when they are ill , rather than visit a GP .
Wayne Lysaght-Mason , Managing Director at IronmongeryDirect , said : “ While it ’ s great to see so many tradespeople taking active measures to lead a healthy lifestyle , when illness does strike it ’ s important that they put their health first , rather than their work .”
