Looking forward

COLIN MORGAN OF NOVA commented ,“ Smarts have an impressive portfolio of quality systems and is very proactive in keeping its range up to date , such as the new bi-folding door system , Visofold 5000 . “ The 5000 has introduced slimmer site lines , maximising the best possible use of the glass area , but still keeps the inherent strength associated with its predecessor , the Visofold 1000 , and we are delighted to be selected by Smarts as an approved manufacturer of the system .”
Nova sees the new system as further growth in the bi-folding door market , which is still strong with the company producing over 20 sets per week . Now approaching its twelfth year of trading , Nova will see sales near the £ 5m mark this calendar year and is confident of a steady increase going into 2017 .
The company is strictly a trade only supplier with customers all over England and Wales , Director Paul Vickery explains ,“ We really are the nuts and bolts of the industry as we only fabricate and do not do any surveying , or indeed supply any glass . Glazing companies who use Nova range from small enterprises with limited fabrication facilities to multi-nationals who see the company as an extension of their own manufacturing process .
“ Typically , a number of organisations who only produce PVCu , and are seeing an increased activity in the aluminium sector , use Nova as their own aluminium division . We are good at building relationships with our customers and we are fortunate to have a team , which are not only dedicated but extremely knowledgeable , with the extensive range of Smarts profiles .”
Paul continues ,“ With the exception of the bi-folding door sales , of which a number would be domestic projects , the majority of the service we give is for commercial applications , although we are seeing considerable increases in top end domestic orders for aluminium windows , usually in what seems to be the colour of the moment , grey !
“ Smarts range of window designs are second to none and allow us to provide real quality aluminium windows to suit every requirement .”
Commercial applications include curtain walling and business related entrances , both which feature prominently in Nova ’ s output . A choice of curtain walling systems is manufactured with a considerable amount of shop floor area being geared specifically to suit large projects . All the systems boast a wealth of profiles , giving designers the ability to create striking facades for both small and sizable multi-storey buildings , which Nova can supply direct to site should the logistics be a challenge for the customer .
Store front entrances is another rapid growth market for Nova . Chris Sillick , Account Manager , explains , “ Shopfronts are a very busy part of our business with production exceeding 50 entrances a week . We are also seeing a swing towards thermally broken profiles when it comes to standard shop access and of course an array of colours both standard and not so standard ! We are also a producer of a great many rapid access doors
for which we are fully certified in respect of EN 14351 -1:2006 + A1:2010 Pedestrian doorsets for escape routes .”
Nova operates its own fleet of vehicles including 3 commissioned curtain sided trucks , specifically built to carry large fabricated frames , and two sprinter vans giving a reliable delivery service . Paul Harvey , a Director at Nova , comments , “ 90 % of deliveries are made on our own vehicles by our own drivers , which ensures that the products are well looked after in transit . Drops can be made to either our customers premises or their site address , if preferred , and because all our vehicles are tracked we are able to keep our customers up to date regarding the safe arrival of their order .”
Paul Vickery concludes , “ We operate from our Bristol base out of 40,000 sq . ft . and we employ over 50 people , many of whom have been with us from the very early days of Nova . We very much welcome customers and indeed prospective customers to visit our facilities to find out how the service Nova provides could assist their own business .”
