The team of 24 riders and support crew cycled from Canada to Mexico over 11 days covering 2,111 miles and 94,600ft of climbing, with 864,000 calories burned and 4,536,000 peddles turned (cadence). “All funds and pledges have now been collected and we are absolutely delighted to announce that the Border2Border challenge has raised a phenomenal £195,766.92,” said Gary Morton, chairman of GM Fundraising and B2B team member. “All of this has come from the hard work of everyone that took part in the challenge and of course, the support of our amazing industry. All the money raised goes directly to Hope House Children’s Hospices.” Andy Goldsmith, chief executive of Hope House added: “The support we receive from GM Fundraising is critical. Hope House is more than just a hospice. It’s a service and by providing support to children with life-limiting illnesses and their families, our aim is to improve their quality of life in any way possible.” Energy management achievement »»REHAU HAS ACHIEVED the ISO 50001 Energy Management Certificate for all of its UK manufacturing and warehousing facilities. This is a key element in the fenestration and renewables specialist’s ambitious energy policy which is focused both on reducing energy losses and using and producing energy efficiently. It extends not just to the company’s manufacturing processes but to the design and application of REHAU’s products and to its buildings, infrastructure, purchasing policies, machinery and energy. The UK plants covered by the ISO 50001 certification are in Blaenau and Amlwch in North Wales, where REHAU produces its PVCu window and door systems and district heating pipework. REHAU has long stated its commitment to continual improvement in terms of its environmental performance. It has in 2016 announced a switch to sourcing 100% renewable electricity and published an in-depth sustainability report focusing on the positive transformation the company has undergone over the past two years. In achieving ISO 50001, REHAU now complies with the requirements of the government’s mandatory energy assessment and energy saving identification scheme ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme).
