WINDOW TECH TRADE HAS done well with Residence 9 ( R9 ), and is now offering Residence 7 ( R7 ) as a new option .
Launched at the FIT Show , R7 is a 7 chamber 75mm frame depth window that is always flush internally , and can be either flush or storm on the outside .
Harry Wallis , sales and marketing manager at Window Tech Trade says : “ We pride ourselves on the quality of our products and service , so making the Residence Collection fits well with our ethos . R9 has been great for us because it ’ s opened up markets we couldn ’ t access
before . Now we can offer a smaller , more contemporary , and equally as beautiful R7 option as well .”
R7 looks great in both modern and traditional homes , and has outstanding performance to go with its appearance . Available in the new unfoiled Element Collection , there are even more finishes to choose from .
“ We have a large showroom that features a range of R9 installations . A lot of homeowners and installers come to have a look ,” adds Harry . “ Once they see it , they want it . That ’ s how we felt when we saw R7 – we had to have it .”

New BIM toolkit

IN LIGHT OF THE growing requirements for BIM Level 2 across construction projects , joinery manufacturers will benefit from a new BIM toolkit launched by the British Woodworking Federation ( BWF ).
BIM , or Building Information Modelling , is a wide ranging term applied to the sharing of all kinds of construction information in a digital form . Product manufacturers may be asked to provide BIM objects by combining their product performance data with the graphical information .
The BWF BIM Toolkit looks into the varying aspects of BIM Level 2 which manufacturers need to be aware of in order to meet the current requirements . BIM Level 2 was made a mandatory requirement of all public sector projects since this April , and is now also starting to gain traction outside the public sector .
The guide for joinery manufacturers and woodworking firms covers a range of topics including what , when and how information should be created , shared and managed for a construction project . Matthew Mahony , BWF policy and communications executive , says : “ We ’ ve set out to de-mystify BIM for joinery companies that may be relatively new to the concept , and to give them the opportunity to build up their own library of product data in a format which satisfies the basic BIM requirements .”
