DOORS&WINDOWS Shaping The Mill »»Universal Arches is no stranger to the commercial market, yet this latest project with Dempsey Dyer is the largest oneof-its-kind ever in the UK with the replacement of 655 shaped PVCu windows, as part of a £8.75 million re-development project at Abbey Mill, Leicester. This impressive project for the re-development of Abbey Mill in Leicester required the replacement of 742 windows and two sets of French Doors over a 12 month period. Of the windows, 655 were manufactured with arches, the best way to match the original design with an arched head, as specified by the architect RG+P and by the local Planning Department of Leicester City Council. Peter Dyer, Sales and Marketing Director of Dempsey Dyer said: “We have built an incredible relationship with Universal Arches and simply without them the project could not have gone ahead.” Leon Day, Managing Director of Universal Arches concludes: “This was an incredible project to be involved in and required detailed production planning and co-ordination with Peter and his team. Everyone across the project has been thrilled with the end result of a facility to support vulnerable adults.” For further information visit www.universalarches.com. C O M »»MWD Trade Windows and Doors, a leading South West fabricator is normally used to supplying its windows and doors for just residential and commercial projects. However, a recent project has seen the company supply its Irish Oak ‘A’ rated window, for installation in a high-end tree house. MWD worked with Ben Edwards Builders to complete the installation in Somerset, with the owners of the property building the tree house for office use and additional living space. The novel idea could spark a wave of copy-cat installations says MWD’s Jim Martin. “It’s not the type of project we usually work on and is certainly a first for us, putting a whole new spin on living al fresco.” Ben Edwards comments: “It was an interesting project to work on and MWD is a great company to work with, always on time, supplying efficient and top quality products.” MWD manufacture and supply Duraflex casement windows, bi-folding and composite doors, vertical sliding sash windows and patios.
