INDUSTRYNEWS SPECTUS ELITE 70 COMPLETES TOWNHOUSE DEVELOPMENT »»Spectus Window Systems’ Elite 70 system has been used to give a traditional new build development in Swinton, Greater Manchester a contemporary twist. Through its fabricator Worsley Glass, windows, curtain walling and bifolding doors were supplied and installed in seven townhouses. Designers, R.A Fisk of Swinton combined red brickwork and honey-toned, natural stone lintels, with Black foiled finished windows, bi-folding doors and curtain walling to create a striking exterior. The apex windows posed more of a challenge and Worsley Glass tur ned to a specialist arch window company, taking templates of the apex to ensure that the windows were ordered accurately and efficiently. Worsley Glass also supplied and installed bottom opening casement windows in a black foiled finish. Elite 70 profile was also used to create the outer frame for the composite entrance doors. Tom Murphy, owner of Stablefold Developments, said: “The windows, doors and glazed façade achieve a U-value of 1.6 W/m2K, and that’s invaluable to my customers.” For more information visit www.spectussystems.co.uk A Lead-Free Decade »»Kömmerling’s parent company, profine Group, have saved 68,000 tonnes of lead, thanks to the use of their innovative calcium-zinc based Greenline compound, over the last decade. During this period, the Group has processed over two million tonnes of Greenline compound and they have been instrumental in the drive to remove lead from PVCu compounds in the building sector. Taking a leading stance in this environmental initiative, profine has also been supported by VinylPlus, a sustainability programme of the European PVC industry. VinylPlus is built around ambitious commitments, including the responsible use of additives by moving towards the replacement of lead stabilisers by 2015. In an age where lead has been removed from petrol, paint and children’s toys, several decades ago, the PVC industry in general has been a little slow to follow suit. Stefan Seidel, Managing Director of profine UK, said: “Our material research is as important as our product development programmes, including our Kömmerling brand in the UK as we further cement our reputation as market leaders in research and development for the PVCu window industry.” For further information, call 01543 444900, e-mail [email protected], visit www.kommerling.co.uk or follow them on Twitter @kommerling_uk. 2013 First FIT Show TruPlas rigid spacer bar and SDL launched 2011 Manufacturing facility set up in Germany 2012 2011 Acquired by Quanex 2011 Produced 2 billionth foot of Super Spacer 30 » N OV 2014 » CL EARVI E W- UK .
