The Professional dual spindle door lock
series, which features three hooks, two

Tragedies Could
be Prevented
On 19th March 2015, a 94 year old
woman in Newhaven, Sussex wa s killed
by a fire door. According to press
reports, the fire door was damaged and
it came off its hinges and fell on her.

to save lives rather than to
present a hazard. In fact, the
toll of injuries caused by fire
doors is surprisingly high. The
types of injuries that may result
from door incidents range
from crushing, bruising and
fractures.
The most recent annual
statistics indicate that over
30,000 children under the age of
15 visited UK hospital accident
and emergency departments with
finger/thumb injuries caused
by doors and door frames with
more than 1,500 needing some
form of surgery.
In a great many cases, our
lives would be safer, easier and
more pleasant if fire doors could
be kept open, enabling better
access, ventilation and freedom
from injury. Unfortunately,
regulations state that fire doors
must be kept closed in order to
provide protection in the event
of a fire.

»»Anyone who doubted
Mila’s claims, that its new
ProSecure hinge could really
be fitted straight from the box
in less than a minute, can now
see the proof for themselves via
a video that the company has
posted on its own You Tube
channel (https://www.youtube.
com/watch).
The newly recorded video
shows Mila’s Technical Manager,
Strafford Cooke, fitting the new
hinge onto a PVC door in just
58 seconds, a time that Mila says
is faster than any other hinge.
The video was recorded under
test conditions at Mila’s Test
Centre in Daventry and now sits
alongside the other ProSecure
video on the channel, which
focuses on the product’s features
and benefits.
Strafford Cooke said, “There
are no tricks or shortcuts on the
video. It’s just me using the jig to
drill the two holes needed on the
frame and then fitting the hinge
straight from the box.
“We wanted to show
fabricators just how easy the
whole process is and to give
them some idea of just how
much time they can save in their
fabrication set up if they switch
to ProSecure.”
