Hardware Highlights
»»Carl F Groupco, one
of the UK’s largest and most
proactive hardware distributors
when it comes to service and
product development, reports on
several innovations that show the
market is continuing to receive
investment from manufacturers to
the benefit of its customers.
This is Ingenious
The new Ingenious multipoint lock Professional range is a
recent addition to the company’s
extensive catalogue. Not only is
the product inherently exciting
as it opens up new opportunities
for the distributor, the choice of
Carl F Groupco to be one of the
launch partners for distribution
is a significant reinforcement of
the company’s position as a major
player in the fittings industry.
The Professional dual spindle
door lock series, which features
three hooks, two rollers, latch and
serrations, provides exceptional
value for money and innovative
engineering.
Also available from Carl
F Groupco is the pioneering
Duplex series manufactured by
Ingenious. Both the Duplex
and Professional ranges feature
an ergonomically designed hold
back snib on the face place to
prevent accidental lock outs. All
Ingenious multi-point locks have
adaptive compression rollers,
which engage before the locking
points for smooth operation,
and unique slider technology
ensures a long product life. The
Ingenious door locks are available
from Carl F Groupco to suit
standard residential doors for
PVCu, French master and slave
applications, plus options for
composite and timber doors.
And, with five hooks, additional
security is afforded by the
Duplex.
The appeal of
aluminium and timber
A number of initiatives and
advancements in the window
industry are currently centring on
aluminium and timber. Growth
is such that Carl F Groupco has a
dedicated unit that supports these
markets.
Key factors that are influencing
growth in demand for aluminium
include stylish design lines,
aesthetic appeal and durability.
Timber has a similar design
appeal and its popularity is
reinforced by a trend toward
natural, renewable construction

Groupco observes that leading
manufacturers are spearheading
some pioneering hardware
solutions for these materials.
Norman Berrill, Business
Development Director provides
details of the aluminium hardware
that is offered by the company:
“Siegenia is a significant
supplier to Carl F Groupco,
supplying the ALU 4200 and
ALU axxent tilt and turn ranges.–
Innovative design features have
been incorporated in to ease
fabrication and installation
specifically for aluminium
windows.
“Continuing our review of top
league players is Peder Nielsen
(PN) whose gearing products
provide maximum flexibility: the
hardware can be used on simple
side hung, projecting side/top
hung, fully reversible side swing
or top swing windows.
“Strand Hardware is another
prominent line and products such
as Highline Gearing for remote
access windows are ideally suited
to the aluminium and commercial
markets.
“Historically, we have
supported PVCu customers
with Cotswold products.
Fittings are also available which
particularly suit aluminium
fabricators’ requirements for
commercial installations, such
as the heavy duty Parallel Stay:
this provides natural ventilation
and can be connected to building
management systems as part
of automated climate control
solutions.
“No report on Carl F
Groupco’s manufacturing partners
is complete without reference to
FUHR. We worked with FUHR
previously via both Carl F and
Groupco, so our partnership
relationship is deeply rooted. A

aluminium applications is the

lock which provides the home
owner with a remote control key:
the access device is simple to use
and activated to unlock and open
the door. The door automatically
locks on closing requiring only
a key or thumb turn cylinder
to deadlock. There are many
access options which can be
incorporated into the FUHR
881 system including finger
print or iris recognition, key
card and motion sensor – most
components that can remotely
unlock a door can be fitted and,
as an additional safety measure, a
panic function in the event of a
power cut will release all locking
points from the inside.”
