Innovation in large scale glazing
»»Internorm, the leading
window brand in Europe, has recently
launched its new PANORAMA HX300.
This new timber/aluminium window
glazing system can be integrated completely
into the brickwork meeting the growing
on-trend requirement for frameless glass
architecture.
The HX300 boasts a number of innovative
technical details. Slim glass joints allow
the inconspicuous transition of large glass
areas, almost making the frame disappear
completely into the façade so that literally
only the windows and doors are noticeable,
maximising the scale of views to the outside.
The 97mm wide glass dividing transoms
ensures increased structural integrity, allowing
continuous glass areas of up to 10.5m2.
Toughened glass panes protect from injuries
when glass breakages and offer a thermal
insulation of Uw up to 0.73 W/m2K, with
soundproofing up to 40 dB. The HX300
features strong, multi-layered laminated frame
construction with the facility for window sills
and patio floors to be connected neatly and
tightly.
Commenting on this UK launch, Thomas
Hagen, Internorm’s Technical Manager
says, “We’re delighted to have revealed the
PANORAMA HX300 to the UK market. The
transition between the frame and glass pane is
virtually invisible offering both architects and
self-builders unlimited design freedom.”

MORE COLOURS AND LESS LEAD TIME
»»TruFrame has recently
expanded its range of foiled colours and
woodgrains in response to customer demand,
including a number of additional exclusive
Liniar stock options.
The market for colours and woodgrains
has increased considerably over the last 5
years, thanks to the increase in demand from
homeowners for more choice and this has
helped ignite sales at TruFrame. There’s a short
5-day lead time for rosewood/rosewood on
white, golden oak/golden oak on white and
black foil on white, along with a larger range
of options available on just a 7-day turnaround.
All of these options are offered with the
usual TruFrame efficiency and backed with a
comprehensive 10 year warranty.
The 7-day foiled options include white and
cream foil, black foil (both sides), Chartwell
green on white, anthracite grey (RAL 7016) on
white, mahogany/mahogany on white and ivory
cream, with Irish oak both sides currently on a
10 day lead time. There is also a wide range of
premium colours available on an extended lead
time for specialist projects.
‘a real sales edge’
David Firmager, managing director of
TruFrame, commented: ‘Our expanded range
of foiled colours and woodgrains is giving
customers a real sales edge.’

Windows on Prescription
»»“Replacement double glazing
on prescription may not be as daft as it
sounds if a Clinical Commissioning Group in
Sunderland has anything to do with it,” says
Gerald Allen, Marketing Manager at Swish
Window and Door Systems.
“A small pilot project was carried out to see
if spending up to £5,000 per home on boilers,
double glazing and insulation can improve
the health of patients with chronic chest
disease and cut the cost of their medical care
in winter. Initial results are exciting with a 28
percent decrease in GP attendances and a 40
percent drop in hospital attendances. Home
heating costs dropped by £30 a month too.

“This is one to watch. Unlike the Green
Deal, it’s being driven from the bottom up by
local health trusts and authorities, as well as
prominent figures from industry and charities.
So public funded energy saving measures to
homes could gain momentum at a local level
without central government involvement. That
could be an interesting development for the
glazing industry.
“The savings on energy costs are also
impressive. It’s certainly a good figure for
installation companies to quote when
explaining to homeowners the ongoing
cost benefits of fitting new energy efficient
windows.”
