People in glass impress
»»Following the Glass and
Glazing Federation’s (GGF) decision to be
one of the sponsors of the recent People in
Glass (PIGS) event in Manchester on 6th
March, the Federation was delighted with the
success of the event. The first PIGS event of
2015 proved a huge success with over 150
people attending and evidently enjoying the
networking over a drink or two.
James Lee, Head of GGF Group Marketing,
said, “It was a great event and great to see so
many GGF members, potential new members
and of course many of our friends in the
media; many thanks to Andy and Sarah and
the team at Balls2Marketing for organising
such an excellent industry event. We are
already looking forward to the next event in
London in the summer.”
The GGF is the primary trade association
for companies that make, supply or fit flat
glass and related products representing more
than 60% of the industry’s turnover.
The GGF provides information for
homeowners, professional specifiers and
anyone seeking professional and unbiased
information on any aspect of glass and glazing
in the UK.

ENERGY POLICY POST
ELECTION DEBATE
»»On 2 March, the
Glass and Glazing Federation
(GGF) visited the House of
Commons for a debate entitled
‘Energy policy after the
General Election: Priorities for
the next Government’.
It was clear that most in
the audience felt that energy
efficiency was a priority and
the way forward for all in the
UK but that it should be a
collective effort/mindset by all
concerned and not solely the
responsibility of Governments,
politicians and policy makers.
The GGF raised the issue
that a whole house approach
would be best applied for
energy efficiency schemes to
ensure properties are properly
insulated and therefore
more energy efficient. The

Federation also raised concerns
about the lack of incentives for
consumers to install windows
under Green Deal.
The GGF plans to attend
future debates run by the
Parliamentary Group for
Energy Studies (PGES) to
glean more knowledge, and to
share up to date information
and views on energy policy,
the energy markets and energy
efficiency. The Federation
will also continue to attend
where possible to ensure
the voice of the glass and
glazing industry is heard and
Members’ concerns are raised
to politicians, policy makers
and key influencers.
