DOORS&WINDOWS
Colour Leads to
Significant Increase
in Turnover
When Keyframe was formed in 1994, it was Director,
Jimmy Whittles’, vision to establish an organisation
that would supply a comprehensive range of
windows, doors and conservatories, manufactured
to the highest specification, using quality materials.
»»In the beginning, the Company
exclusively supplied Rehau profile but now
runs both the Rehau Total 70 and the Spectus
Elite 70 systems. Both are highly specified into
trade and commercial sectors.
More recently though, it is Keyframe’s
coloured product offering that the Company
is attributing a considerable 20% increase in
turnover to. The Company is able to supply
a window in any RAL or BS colour and can
colour-match to all Farrow and Ball and
National Heritage paint colours.
As well as its painted products, Keyframe’s
colour turnover also comes from the coloured
foils of oak, rosewood, mahogany, cream and
white foiled on both sides, and with its oak,
rosewood, mahogany, black and grey foiled on
the outside with a white inside finish.
‘Gone are the days where
all windows are white’
Demand for these foiled products is such
that Keyframe offers them as standard stock,
available on a 3–7 days lead time. Alternative
colours are offered on special order and
any product can be sprayed to any colour,
although slightly longer lead times do apply.
Managing Director, Jimmy Whittles,
believes that colour is the way forward in the
window industry. He says, “Last year, coloured
products added an upturn of as much as 15%
to our order levels. Gone are the days where
all windows are white and keeping up with
the Joneses doesn’t just mean matching them
like for like. Instead homeowners are looking
to differentiate their home from the one next
door by using colour on their windows and
doors do so.

“And in an industry where the gap in
product specification as a differentiator for
fabricators and installers to sell on is becoming
narrower, it is the colour offer where these
companies can still compete. In fact, over
this coming year I see the increase in our own
turnover that can be attributed to colour to
grow even further to that of 30%.
“But with the rise of colour comes the
requirement for matching coloured ancillaries
and we have seen this coming up a lot more,
these are available off the shelf from Keyframe.
“We work alongside our ancillary supplier
to ensure we always have sufficient stock of all
coloured products to avoid disappointment.”
Jimmy adds.
