DOORS&WINDOWS
‘MORE THAN JUST A WINDOW…
AND MORE THAN JUST A DOOR!’
»»WITH A HOUSE FULL OF WINDOWS,
inevitably there comes a door, or two! And
when searching for a fabricator to supply
these windows and doors, ideally you want a
company that manufactures both products,
exactly to the homeowners taste and
specification.
Climatec Windows is one such company.
Providing a one stop shop for its trade
and commercial customers, ranging from
installers, contractors, housebuilders and
homeowners, its ‘more than just a window’
ethos brings a large and varied product
range.
After its exciting debut at this year’s FIT
Show, Climatec’s new timber replacement
doors are about to join its ever-growing
portfolio of products. Taking inspiration
from the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian
architectural styles, these new PVCu doors
rival any traditionally designed composite
door and are perfect replacements for the
wooden doors found on older properties.
When designing these doors, many hours
were spent researching each era of building
styles. Once the designs were decided, the
fabrication process had to be put in place
combining mechanical joints, welding and the
new 50mm astragal bar to create the overall
effect.
With many authentic features required
to replicate a true timber door, it was down
to the ironmongers for inspiration, settling
on pull handles and doctor knockers. The
introduction of a slam shut lock also eliminated
the need for a handle on the external face. This
all culminated in a collection of doors that
will confidently grace the front of any period
building.
Visitors to Climatec’s stand at the show were
able to see a fully operational Victorian styled
door, in chartwell green with stained, gothic
effect glass, a slam shut lock and a gold centre
door pull and doctor knocker to complete the
look. Also on show was the 1930s timber effect
Irish O ak door, again very popular with those
who spent time admiring it.
Climatec’s John Banks told Clearview that
these two doors are just the start of a collection
of period doors due to be launched over the
coming months, “Since returning from the
show I have already started work on producing
three more door designs to add to the collection,
styled from the Edwardian, Georgian and Art
Deco periods. So, along with our traditional
mock timber window option, we plan to put
together a ‘Period Range’ of products with full
marketing support for our customers.”

Double achievement
Specialist trade fabricator Dungannon Window
Company Ltd has been awarded the UK’s firstever BFRC A++ Rating for a PVCu vertical slider.
»»THE COMPANY HAS ALSO
achieved the lowest ever U-Value for the
style, at 1.0 W/m²K.
Dungannon’s double achievement for its
Eurosash Superior Triple 1.0 PVCu window
opens major new domestic and commercial
markets for the vertical slider style and
the low U-Value even brings the window
within reach of Passivhaus standard in some
buildings.
The window, developed with Spectus,
uses 28mm Krypton-filled triple glazing
with twin Thermobar spacers and mixed
thermal and steel reinforcing, along with
Eurosash’s own 12-part sealing system for
dramatically reduced air leakage.
Dungannon Director Gary Givans
says the vertical slider is still growing in
popularity, and at the same time customers

are demanding more energy efficient
windows. He said: “Now, for the first
time, they can have both – and without
compromise.”
He added that the company could still
have gained the A++ label with a window
U-Value of 1.1 W/m²K but said: “We
believe both the U-Value and Passivhaus are
becoming more significant so we decided to
go the extra mile.”
The Superior Triple 1.0 is the latest big
step in Dungannon’s 17-year evolution of its
Eurosash window which has included other
milestones including the first ever ‘A’ Rating
for a PVCu vertical slider with Spectus. It
also comes as the County Tyrone company
prepares to celebrate 30 years in business.
