NEW CONS ERVATORY GUIDE
»»THE UK HAS REGRETTED
“turning its back” on Europe in the past,
the PM said, arguing that the EU had
“helped reconcile” countries and maintain
peace.
Was leaving the union a “risk worth
taking”, Mr Cameron asked.
But former London mayor Boris
Johnson hit back, calling the EU’s “antidemocratic tendencies” “a force for
instability and alienation”.
The Vote Leave campaign said: “During
the renegotiation the PM said he ‘ruled
nothing out’. Now he thinks leaving the
EU would lead to war. What changed?”

»»THE GLASS AND GLAZING
Federation (GGF) is pleased to announce
the launch of the revised and updated “Guide
to Good Practice in the Specification and
Installation of Conservatories within the UK.”
Launched on April 13th at The FIT Show
at Telford International Centre by Russell
Day, GGF Technical Officer and Mark
Hanson, Chairman of the GGF Conservatory
Association, the new Guide includes the latest
up to date information reflecting the changes
in the legislative and regulatory landscape.
Russell Day commented, “Since 2012, there
has been a modest increase in the number of
glazed extensions being built, the proportion
of standard, Building Regulation exempt
conservatories now represents a significantly
lower proportion of these structures. The new
guide addresses the many issues and demands
the industry is now experiencing such as
the increase in non-exempt conservatories,
conservatories with enhanced features to meet
the aesthetic aspirations of homeowners and
an increase in the number and complexity of
structural Orangery type glazed structures.”
Peace in Europe could
be at risk if Britain
votes to leave the
European Union, David
Cameron has warned.
Mark Hanson added, “I am pleased the
GGF has revised the Guide to reflect the
homeowners’ expectations and the legislative
changes to incorporate a wider range of glazed
structure requirements within the Guide.”

Despite his warning on security, the
Prime Minister defended his decision to
call the referendum. He told the BBC:
“You shouldn’t try to hold an independent
sovereign nation in an organisation against
its will.”
The PM’s comments - and a rival speech
from Mr Johnson - came as the referendum
campaign intensified, following May
elections.
Mr Cameron, who was introduced by
former Labour foreign secretary David
Miliband, argued the EU - with Britain
in it - had helped bring together countries
that had been “at each others’ throats for
decades”.
He warned the peace and stability
Europe has enjoyed in recent years could
not be guaranteed, saying leaving risked
“the clock being turned back to an age of
competing nationalism in Europe.”
