GLASS&SEALEDUNITS All taped up Window installers can now take advantage of the new ISOBLOCO WIN2WALL multi-level sealing tape from ISO-Chemie. The Ongoing Fight Against Condensation »»Water condensation on windows is a problem that inevitably affects many modern houses and apartments. Condensing water not only looks unappealing, but also can affect visibility. The choice of ClimaGuard® Dry by Guardian’s Glass Group in Europe is a way to get rid of “steamy windows” while maintaining excellent insulating properties. Until recently, it was commonly believed that the phenomenon of condensation was typical for windows with high thermal performance glazing. Moreover, external condensation was widely considered the signature of a well-insulated, energy-efficient window. How did this belief come to be? Good thermal insulation glass does not allow the heat to “escape” from inside the house, so the outer pane usually stays cold and allows the deposition of water droplets from humid air. This, however, is not the case with the anti-condensation Guardian ClimaGuard Dry glass. The product’s advantage lies in its innovative coating that allows it to effectively fight the phenomenon of “steamy windows”. Field tests conducted by Guardian in real weather conditions show that the average duration of water condensation on ClimaGuard Dry glass is just one hour. By comparison, for self-cleaning glass it is 7 hours, and for regular float glass it can be up to 8 hours. The all-new coating provides excellent transparency without compromising insulation or energy-efficiency of modern windows. The coating is extremely durable and requires no special maintenance. Guardian ClimaGuard Dry can be successfully used both in new buildings and in those undergoing a retrofit. This innovative glass not only effectively eliminates condensation, but it also improves the energy efficiency of buildings and helps to meet the highest standards of sustainable construction. ClimaGuard Dry glass can be used in double- and triple-glazed windows. The product must be tempered to activate the coating. Visit www.guardian.com »»The product is designed for sealing the perimeter joint between windows, doors and walls, enabling the windows and doors to be quickly and easily sealed from inside the building. It seals gaps from 2mm to 8mm, and comes in two widths to give extra thermal insulation equivalent to A Rated (40mm tape) or A+ and A++ windows (65mm tape). The tape is weather tight to 600 Pa (Violent Storm Force 11) and has excellent acoustic insulation properties. Installing a window or door using WIN2WALL will give the window an equivalent or better thermal property than the window unit itself. Even the smaller 40mm size tape, will give the joint between the window and wall a U-value of 1.2 W/ m2K, equivalent to an energy A-rated window. The larger size tape will give an A-Value of 0.7 W/m2K, which is even better than a triple glazed Passivhaus standard window. The tape is applied to the window before installation and has slow expansion speed to give ease of installation for large windows or even patio doors. WIN2WALL also complies with the Zero Carbon Hub project by using materials that fill the gap between ‘designed performance’ and ‘built performance,’ making it particularly useful to new build developers. The tape is permeable to outward moving vapour diffusion according to the RAL principles of 3-level sealing and is more air tight on the inside than the out. This guarantees that the joint will dry out completely. Visit www.iso-chemie.co.uk or email p.thompson@iso-chemie. co.uk or call 01207 566874 58 » JAN 2016 » CL EARVI E W- UK . C O M
