INDUSTRYNEWS Mainz 05 sponsorship continues »»KÖMMERLING IS NOW into the second year of a 3-year sponsorship deal as the main sponsor of German Bundesliga football club Mainz 05. After a narrow defeat to Borussia Dortmund at the beginning of the season the club went on to record two impressive away victories against FC Augsburg and Werder Bremen, and have since gone on to win a further 2 and draw 1 of their last 6 league matches, propelling them up the table. Mainz are now bubbling under the Europa league places in 10th place on 14 points, sitting above German giants; Borussia Monchengladbach, Schalke 04 and last year’s Champions League quarter- finalists Vfl Wolfsburg. Along with their league campaign, Mainz have also been competing in this seasons Europa League, Europe’s secondary club competition, and currently sit in 3rd place in their group after 4 matches. The club will hope to finish in the top two places and progress to the knockout stages of the competition. With the Kömmerling logo emblazoned on the front of their shirts, the club’s recent success has and continues to expose the brand to millions of viewers and thousands of fans across Germany and the rest of Europe. Kevin Warner, head of sales and marketing of Kömmerling in the UK, commented: “We’re really getting behind Mainz 05 in the UK and also in other international markets, where football is prevalent as a popular sport. Our hope is that they progress to the knock out stages, further exposing the Kömmerling brand and possibly the opportunity of a match against British opposition.” Mainz could potentially meet either Southampton or Manchester United from the English Premier League in the next round of the Europa league if they were to qualify for the knockout stage. Both teams still have two games left to play, with Southampton sitting in 2nd and Manchester United in 3rd place in their respective groups. For Mainz 05, visit www. mainz05.de.
