160 years
Winkhaus was established in 1854 in
Halver, Germany and is celebrating
160 years of delivering product
solutions and forging long-lasting
relationships across the industry.
»»Initially
manufacturing padlocks,
Winkhaus expanded into
structural fittings, hinges and
eventually locking systems for
windows and doors.
The first employees handcrafted each product, and
although production methods
have changed in 160 years,
the care and consideration for
uncompromising quality has
remained constant throughout
the years.
Justin Harris, Commercial
Director, Winkhaus comments:
“Winkhaus was built with great
emphasis on precision, and
today we are proud to have the
reputation of a trusted partner
in the industry.”
For Winkhaus, innovation
means new products being
launched regularly. Winkhaus
recently rolled out additions
to its AV2 range of Auto locks,
which are the ideal solution for
top-end entrance doors and
composite doors.
demand in the ‘70’s and 80’s saw
the start of an issue, surrounding
the security on installed PVCu
windows and doors.
Many of the earlier lock designs
left doors vulnerable and as a
result multipoint locks were
developed to give extra security.
Over the last 30 years, a huge
amount of multipoint locks have
come on to the market, and
then discontinued. So when a
discontinued lock fails it can
be problematic to source a
replacement, and the best solution
is to replace the lock.
Windowparts has recently
launched an innovative service
to create discontinued or
obsolete locks to their original
dimensions.
Raj Mistry, MD of Windowparts
explained: “Lots of our customers
asks for replacement locks
which are no longer available.
Windowparts has invested heavily
in technology to create a solution
for our customers, over time
Windowparts aims to produce
every discontinued door lock and
hold stock for our customers.”

Looking forward, Winkhaus
is ambitious and gearing up for
new markets. One of these is
keyless locking, a market that
the AV2 range accommodates.
AV2-B is battery operated and
key fob activated, no different
from the way a modern car
operates.
Justin concludes: “Aside
from being a trusted partner for
fabricators and helping them
stand out in their respective
markets, we’re a
