GLASSTECREVIEW
Optimistic Mood at glasstec 2014
»»After difficult times
in large parts of the glass sector
there are now clear signs of
positive market developments.
This was the clear message
from the feedback of the 1,217
exhibitors at glasstec 2014. The
43,000 trade visitors were also
extremely satisfied.
Over 96% of visitors give the
world’s most important trade fair
in the glass sector a positive overall
rating. They also rated their visit
in terms of achieving their goals
at the trade fair just as high. 40%
of visitors came to the event with
specific intentions to invest.
The proportion of attendees
from middle and top
management again improved,
with over three quarters of visitors
from these levels. The proportion
of visitors coming to Düsseldorf
from abroad reached about
60%, a figure which continues
to be unmatched in the sector
internationally.
“What is most important
for us is that our customers are
satisfied because this is the basis
for positive and sustainable
growth for the event. We once
again fulfilled this goal in 2014,”
summed up Hans Werner
Reinhard, Managing Director at
Messe Düsseldorf.
The next glasstec will be held
in Düsseldorf from 20 to 23
September 2016.
Pleased with Success of Glasstec
»»The Glass and Glazing
Federation (GGF) was pleased with the success
of Glasstec Dusseldorf in October.
The GGF exhibited at the show to support its
Members who were visiting and exhibiting at the
world’s largest glass and glazing industry event.
Nigel Rees, GGF Group Chief Executive
commented: “As expected, it was a very busy
exhibition and we were pleased not only to
provide a base for our Members where they
met potential clients.”
Steve Rice, GGF Director of Glazing added:
“As expected it was a great show and one
which will undoubtedly increase the awareness
of the GGF and its work.”
With 1,217 exhibitors and over 43,000
trade visitors, Glasstec 2014 attracted
specialists from the fields of mechanical
engineering, glass manufacturing, processing
and finishing, crafts, architecture/construction
as well as glazing/façades and the solar sector
Nigel Rees summarized: “It was a busy week
at Glasstec but a worthwhile one. We’ll now
follow up the many enquiries we received from
visitors to the GGF Stand and conduct a full
review of the show. Then we can start making
plans for Glasstec 2016.”

Smart High Security System
»»A brand new glazing
product was launched at Glasstec 2014 in
Dusseldorf, the GlazeAlarm is a wirelessenabled sensor which is built into a double or
triple-glazed unit at the point of manufacture
and alerts users to a breakage via a hand-held
control unit, smart phone, tablet or PC.
Ian Branagan, GlazeAlarm’s CEO, said: “The
GlazeAlarm is a truly revolutionary new
product which underpins our commitment
to innovation within the glazing and security
industries. It creates a very attractive
proposition for manufacturers and retailers
through additional and differentiated product
lines.”

In addition to its obvious benefit
as a security application, the
GlazeAlarm also has great potential
in energy management for both
residential and commercial users.
As the sensor constantly records
data on the relative humidity within
the glazed unit, it can periodically
report on the efficiency of the
insulation of the glazing.
Judging by the amount of interest shown
at the company’s stand at Glasstec, the
GlazeAlarm looks set to take its position as
the most robust and tamper-proof glass break
security solution on the market.
‘a truly revolutionary
new product’
